A classic piece of Pforzheim horology from the legendary house of Stowa.
This late 1950s/early 1960s Stowa Automatic offers a clean, sophisticated mid-century aesthetic paired with a robust German-made movement. It features a beautiful "Explorer-style" dial with alternating Arabic numerals and dagger indices, protected by a gold-plated case that shows honest wear and character.
THE DETAILS:
* Brand: Stowa (Germany)
* Movement: PUW Caliber 1261 Automatic, 17 Jewels.
* Case Size: Approx. 34mm (excluding crown).
* Case Material: Gold-plated bezel with a Stainless Steel screw-down case back.
* Dial: Original silver-tone dial with "Dauphine" hands and a date window at 3 o'clock.
* Features: Antimagnetic, Shock-protected, Waterprotected (vintage rating, not tested).
* Strap: Brand new 18mm tan pebble-grain leather strap with matching gold-tone buckle.
CONDITION & PERFORMANCE:
This watch has been bench-tested on a professional timegrapher and is performing remarkably well for its age.
* Timing: Running at a reliable +10 to +12 seconds per day.
* Beat Error: Solid 0.9ms.
* Amplitude: Healthy 231°, indicating the movement is strong and maintaining power.
* Cosmetics: The dial has a lovely light patina consistent with age. The gold plating shows significant "brassing" on the lugs and high points, giving it a true vintage tool-watch feel. The acrylic crystal has been lightly polished but may show minor faint marks under close inspection.
Note to Collectors: This watch is sold in "as-found" vintage condition. While it is currently keeping excellent time on the bench, a full service (Clean, Oil, Adjust) is always recommended for long-term daily wear.
